Entry to Korea

Seoul:

Seoul has two airports: the Seoul Incheon Airport for international flights and the Seoul Kimpo Airport for domestic flights. If flying to another city after arriving at Incheon Airport in Seoul, shuttle busses are available that run between the two airports. The coach ride takes approximately 40 minutes, and departs every 20 minutes.
A ticket costs 6000 Won, and it can be purchased directly at the bus stop in front of the airport.

Other international airports:

In addition to Seoul's Incheon airport, other international airports within Korea are listed below:

Gimhae:

International airport in Busan (formerly Pusan). It is interesting to note that for incoming flights, the landing route was changed due to a devastating plane crash that happened some time ago. A Chinese plane approaching the runway, smashed directly into the mountains. Airplanes now land at the seaside of Puan.

Cheongju

Cheongju International Airport lies in the city Cheongju, approx. 130km southeast from Seoul,

Daegu

Daegu International Airport lies in the city Daegu, located in the southeast of Korea

Cheju

The International Airport lies on Cheju Island, an island in Korea's south. This island is a popular destination for honeymoons.

Tip for entering Korea:

It is often cheaper to first book only a ticket to Seoul and, upon arrival in Korea, a second ticket to your final destination. One will arrive at Inchoen International Airport and may take the airport shuttle (approx. 40 minutes) to Kimpo-Airport. You will just need your booking number in order to check in directly. A ticket from Seoul to Busan should cost approx. 60 Euro (one-way flight).

Entry formalities:

When entering Korea, you will need your passport. Citizens of most countries (including USA) do not need a visa for stays of up to 30 days. Nationals of EU countries, Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore do not need a visa for stays of up to 3 months. Canadian Citizens may enter for up to 6 months without a visa. However, return or continuation flights have to be booked beforehand.
You will receive two forms during your flight. They have to be completed and handed in on entry to Korea.
At entry, all passengers must go through a security check as well as an identity check.
There is also a health check, which you simply walk through.

Changing money:

Anyone who arrives at Incheon International Airport can exchange money directly at the airport, profiting from better conversion rates than banks.

Other points to consider at entry

In Korea, everything is organized to the highest possible degree. The signs are written in English and many are now also in Chinese and Japanese. It is indeed quite difficult to get lost. The employees at the airport usually speak English and are very helpful, especially with foreigners. If you look just a little bit helpless, someone will quickly come to you and offer his or her assistance.

Other methods of entry:

Seoul is connected by the neighboring port-city Incheon. From several Chinese, Japanese and Russian port-cities you are able to reach Korea by ferry. Seoul or Incheon is only reachable by ferry from China. The cheapest one-way tickets are about 100.000 won.
